New York City Tenements

Source
During the many times of poverty, the tenements were buildings in which anyone could afford, but were very low quality building. These buildings housed many people in a single building. These areas were also very commonly filled with poor people, who in return, lived very unhealthy life styles. This picture describes the tenements in a very particular way that I felt necessary because it shows how low quality even the daily necessities were. This toilet is just a box with a hole cut in it that would be shared by everyone in a building. This made it easy for disease to spread, and shows how low quality these tenements were.
